We maintain the International Registry of Diving Scientists and Scientific Divers, a single platform to recognize the standardized training, certifications, and credentials of Diving Scientists and Scientific Divers worldwide. Members currently on a national register are automatically included; we work with partner agencies to independently verify everyone else. Listing on the registry confers the D.Sci. (Diving Scientist) and Sci.D. (Scientific Diver) credentials.
Thousands of diving scientists and support teams logging hundreds of thousands of dives annually. Members have access to a full-featured, web-based dive log and program administration application to contribute to the largest database of scientific diving statistics in the world.
We use global scientific diving statistics to help guide evidence-based standards in collaboration with the World Scientific Diving Training Council. With the lowest incident rate of any sector of the diving industry, we advocate for the adoption of international minimum training standards everywhere Scientific Divers dive.
We curate the Scientific Diving Family Tree, an ambitious project to trace our holdfasts from the early years of scientific diving through contemporary times and into our future. As a member of IAPDS, you establish your connection to generations of pioneers in underwater research and operations.
